  • Cook Chicken

Mutti's Chicken


  • Defrosted whole chicken 1
  • Salt & Pepper to cover chicken
  • Butter, separated into small cubes 1 stick
  • Flour to cover chicken
  • Garlic Powder to cover chicken


  • Remove giblets and set aside
  • Rinse chicken and place in roasting pan or glass casserole dish
  • Add giblets to pan/dish
  • Put flour into a shaker if possible
  • Salt and heavily pepper chicken. We like lots of pepper.
  • Add lots of garlic powder
  • Then shake or sprinkle chicken with enough flour to make a nice crust.
  • Cut 1 cube butter into small chunks
  • Dot chicken all over with butter
  • Bake in 350 degree oven until brown
  • During cooking process ladle juices over top of chicken

Mutti's Gravy


  • Mushroom soup 1 can
  • Bits from cooked chicken
  • Cornstarch 2 Tbsp


  • In saucepan add 1 can mushroom soup.
  • Remove chicken to platter.
  • Add 1” hot water to cooking pan.
  • Scrape up bits from pan and pour into soup pan.
  • Wisk and heat until bubbly.
  • To thicken add 2 Tbsp cornstarch to 14 cup water and mix well with fork.
  • Add cornstarch slurry to hot gravy, whisk until thick. Serve hot.
